Non-Chinese citizen, meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Education notice Jiaowaihan [2020] No. 12 and related regulations [2020] no disciplinary violations, public security penalties, or criminal acts or records [2020] friendly to China, of good conduct, observing Chinese laws and university rules and regulations, and respecting Chinese customs. applicants with one or both parents being Chinese citizens must provide proof of foreign nationality obtained at birth or later, proof of the parents' nationality or household registration, and the corresponding foreign permanent residence certificate or the applicant's proof of renunciation of Chinese nationality.

Requirements
Language requirements
Chinese: HSK-5 transcript or other equivalent proof of Chinese proficiency. Exemption: applicants who obtained a degree with Chinese as the teaching language at a Chinese university do not need to provide HSK proof. English (required in principle for students whose native language is not English, but not mandatory): IELTS 6.0 or above or TOEFL 90 or above.
Acceptance letter
Required: for doctoral applicants to the Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program, the personal statement and study plan must be written in Chinese, contain at least 1,500 Chinese characters, and be signed at the end by the Chinese supervisor; not required for the general admission route under the reviewed brochure

- 2026 entrants must obtain a master's degree recognized in China (for degrees from Chinese universities) or the Certificate of Recognition of Overseas Education issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (for degrees from overseas universities) before registration, otherwise admission is cancelled)
